Job Description
Green & Wood Media Services is looking for a Competitive Analyst to join the Media Planning team through the close of the 2026 cycle. This is an entry-level role for someone who wants a front-row seat to how competitive spend actually moves a race — tracking placements across linear TV, streaming, and digital, and turning that into reporting the Advanced TV team and our clients can act on fast.
You'll work closely with the VP, Advanced TV, monitoring a slate of competitive campaigns ranging from federal to statewide to down-ballot races, and building the relationships and reporting habits that make that data useful under deadline pressure — especially as Election Day approaches.
GWMS works with Democratic candidates for federal, state, and local office, along with progressive-aligned organizations, ballot measure campaigns, and public affairs clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Track competitive ad spend across a slate of races — federal, statewide, and down-ballot — spanning linear TV, streaming/CTV, and digital placements.
- Build relationships with station reps and vendor partners to source timely, accurate competitive data.
- Log spend and placement data into GWMS reporting systems and keep reports current on a rolling basis.
- Adapt reporting formats to match individual client needs and preferences.
- Flag notable shifts in competitor spend, targeting, or creative strategy to the Advanced TV team.
- Run basic quality checks on spend data before it reaches internal teams or clients.
- Turn around updated reports on tight deadlines, particularly in the final weeks before Election Day.
Requirements
Education & Experience
No specific degree is required; a background in Political Science, Communications, Statistics, or a related field is a plus. No professional experience is required, but candidates should be comfortable managing multiple live spreadsheets and reports at once under deadline pressure. Campaign, field, or data experience is a differentiator.
Skills & Software
Strong written and organizational skills
Deep comfort with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Presentations
Ability to manage several live reports simultaneously without losing accuracy
Interest in or familiarity with political campaigns and how paid media fits into them
Exposure to tools like AdImpact or similar ad-tracking platforms is a plus, but not required
Remote Work
This is a fully remote position, open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. You'll need a stable internet connection and a workspace that supports focused, deadline-driven work. GWMS is headquartered in Des Moines, IA; standard hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST.
