Michelle Deatrick is currently Vice Chair of the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners.
In 2016 she was a first-time candidate taking on a three-term tea-party incumbent. Her team flipped the Board of Commissioners District 2 seat from red to blue-- one of only 6 such flips at the county level or above in all of Michigan -- as a result of a strong campaign and a passionate volunteer base.
Michelle is a former policy analyst who has completed graduate work at Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Michigan. A former Peace Corp Volunteer, a teacher, and an award-winning poet, Michelle is a unique candidate who will bring a diverse set of experiences and knowledge to the Michigan State Senate. She is the bold, authentic progressive candidate in the race.
